October (Spanish: October) is the second album of the Irish band U2, published on October 12, 1981 by Island Records and produced by Steve Lillywhite. The album was liquegically inspired by the Bonus Membership, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. in a Christian group called Shalom Fellowship and, consequently, it contains spiritual and religious themes. His participation in Shalom Fellowship led them to question the relationship between the Christian faith and the lifestyle of Rock and Roll , and threatened to break the band. [2] After completing the third stage of the Boy Tour in February 1981, U2 began writing new material for October, entering the recording studio in July 1981.
